Peru
The crude oil Pharma Marine used to make the premium quality LipidMarineTM fish oil in your product originates from Peru, which is the largest producer of crude fish oil in the world. Peru is home to one of the world’s largest single stock fishery – the anchoveta - a specie related to anchovy, which supplies fish oil rich in omega-3 fatty acids, and fishmeal for livestock and aquaculture around the world as well as crude oil for human consumption.
Pharma Marine works exclusively with suppliers who are certified by the sustainability organization Friend of the Sea. Also, Pharma Marine sources all of its oils from plants that have been certified by third party to produce human grade fish oil from fresh raw material.
After the crude fish oil is brought to Pharma Marine’s facilities at Terøy, it goes through several processing steps such as refining, adsorption and filtering, winterization, deodorization and molecular distillation as well as concentration steps to increase the omega-3 fatty acids content in the final product - if needed. Through every processing step, the oil is tested to make sure that only premium quality is delivered to our customers.
